A BRIEF INTRODUCTTION  TO  THE  ART  TROUPE

    Fengtai Folk Art Ensemble of Festive Drum and Lantem of Anhui Province,a troupe of fo1k art,was set up along with tne flourishing of the art of Festive Drum and Lanterm.It undertakes the task of propaganda,popularization and enhancement of the folk art as its own responsibility,aiming to entertain people in the form of their own art.During the past decades after its estabIishment,the art troupe has given performances all over China.And designated by the State Ministry of Culture,it once visited countries abroad,participating in the Turkey International Childrenis Arts Festival,the Fifth Asian Folk Arts Festival held in Thailand and London International Folk Arts Festival in Britain,Finland International FoIk Arts Festival and the 29th C10FF Years`party and the 6th Asia Folk Arts Festival held in Kun Ming in China.They received cheers and acclamation and  ardent praise from many international folk arts troupes  and experts

    The art ensemble has an impressive lineup of actors and actresses with consummate performance skills.Not only does it have Mr Chen Jingzhi,the distinguished artist specialized in performing the Festive Drum and Lantern,this troupe also possesses a number of  young and middle-aged troupe rs and youngsters of great artistic potentials graduating from Anhui Institute of Arts.It puts much emphasis on the training of the novices and endeavors to  supplement new blood to its repertoire.The Majority ofthe  70-odd  programs have won province-level  prizes and some even country-level.In the recentlyears,attacted by the great fame of the art,Professor Mary Anna Black from Bambelk University of Germnan,Professor Li Shule from the Culture and Sport Committee of Korea and some other Chinese dancing experts came to visit the art troupe and learn the particular art.The film-producing staff of the TV series  Rainbow shot by a Sino-American company,of  the Hong Kong Cable TV Station,of CCTV and of the provincial and city TV stations often come to shoot the marvelous performances of the Festive Drum and Lantern.It won the prize of Mountain Flower,which is the best honor by the China Literary and Art Cirdws Union and China Folk Artist Associon in 2001,It also won the"special prize"in the fifth China Folk  Art Festival and the"gold prize"in the Folk Art Festival exhibition match.

    Though enclosed in the garden,the beantiful spring scenery can not be confined and a branch of red apricot is extending out over the wall.As a messenger of friendship,Fengtai Folk Art Ensemble of Festive Drum and Lantern of Anhui Province is glad and feels honored to provide you with excellent performaances pleasing to both your eyes and minds.
